“I started my martial arts journey at age 7 in 1982 before “The Karate Kid” movie came out. Back then, there was a class made up of mostly adults and just a few kids. Class was serious, strict and really hard. In all my years as a kid, I tried lots of sports and just wasn’t very good at them. I wasn’t very athletic, or coordinated… I wasn’t very strong or fit… I was never the first or second one picked for anything in gym class, or anything, anywhere, for that matter. Martial Arts was the thing that turned that all around for me. It was ok, to NOT be very good… that’s what Sensei was there for… to help guide you to a bigger, stronger, more confident version of yourself.
